Big Trouble in Little China!

16 Feb

Kung Hey Fatt Choi ! A recent work trip to San Francisco happened to be at the same time as Chinese New Year.  Since San Francisco is the largest Chinatown and Chinese community outside Asia I decided to climb the steep hill past Union Square & the designer shops to sample Dim Sum US style.

Next to Eastern Bakery (the oldest Chinese bakery in the US) was The Wok Shop a kitchen utensils shop which stocked some crazy Asian cooking gadgets including the Japanese Egg Mould.  As I was browsing the shop keeper was screaming down the phone to her supplier… Martha Stewart has started a craze and now I’m out of stock!

When she calmed down Mrs. shop keeper told me The Martha Stewart Show featured Chinese cookery to celebrate the New Year and she used a special gadget to slice spring onions, this in turn caused the demand for this gadget to rocket and supply to diminish…….sounds like I’ve been hanging out with lots of sales type people recently, doesn’t it? Well I did pick up some really neat sales & marketing tips, one of the most important tips is to present our ideas in context, just like Martha did and just like PTF will this year.

Gorgeous home owners please note…. PTF will be organising a photo shoot in April/May for our new collection so we can shout out to the world and all the great interior professionals, magazines and interiors lovers that our products are complimentary, desirable and the best of future British design! Thanks Martha!

100% is almost here!

20 Sep

So we’re almost there! Just a few days to go.  What a huge preperation its been this year, we’ve been working on the feature for this year’s show since February!!  I’m so excited about seeing it all in place first thing Thursday morning as the first visitors enter the hall and are slapped in the face with Print, Tuft and Fold’s colour, pattern and texture.

Here’s a couple photo’s of work in progress before it all went off to be cubed!

Map Envelope

4 Jun

Found this great website today, Map Envelope.  It allows you to create an envelope with an inner lining which features a satellite photo of the location of your choice using the power that is Google Map.  Its really easy, just enter any location and add an optional custom message.  If you like what you see print it out and then all you have to do is fold it (they even include the fold lines).  The lining is a cool pic of the location you picked, with the address and a custom message you write attached to the location pin, just as it would appear on Google Maps.  I love it, sending good old fashioned letters just got cool again.  Print xx

Magnificent Maps

31 May

So I finally made it to the British Library to check out the current exhibition Magnificent Maps. Having been disappointed to find out the British Library is only open late on a Tuesday and closes at 6pm most nights I had to dash there last Thursday for the final half an hour of opening.  Despite this minor let down the exhibition did not disappoint! The maps are amazing!! I absolutely loved the explorer’s maps; with hand drawn animals, people and buildings showing you what they had encountered on their trip, they feel magical and fairytale like.  I could just imagine them being presented to the King or Queen on their return and them being blown away with their stories.  Really made me want to go off traveling, exploring new lands, well maybe I’ll just settle on booking my next holiday! If you get a chance and feel like seeing some Art with a twist then check it out. By the one obsessed with travel, Print xxx
